Start with the physical object

Three pieces can show the same artwork and be three different collectibles.

A magazine page, lithographed dealer poster, and modern licensed print may share an image while differing completely in age, manufacture, scarcity, condition, and market.

Advertising identification workflow
The evidence order

Photograph the back before putting it in a frame.

1.Record full front, full back, every edge, fold, binding hole, easel, label, stamp, and handwritten note.
2.Measure the complete object and note trimming, missing margins, removed pages, and replaced supports.
3.Identify printing and material before dating from the graphic style.
4.Separate national brand history from the exact local dealer, printer, bottler, or retailer.
Focused marketplace search

Search the physical and local clues.

Add format, city, product, dealer, year range, printer, dimensions, and “original.” Then inspect every listing independently.

Authenticity

“Vintage style” is not a date.

Reproductions often copy the famous image while changing size, paper, crop, back, printer line, color separation, or licensing notice. Artificial stains and distressed edges cannot substitute for period manufacture.
